As we were setting up our new life in Thailand, we unexpectedly had an offer to photograph a traditional Thai wedding. This was an exciting proposal, it would be a new experience a traditional Thai wedding.
At a Thai wedding we needed to make sure we captured the true cultural experience of the occasion.
The only thing I really could not plan for was the heat. Being dressed in formal attire taking photos in 35 degrees Celsius temperature is not at all comfortable. It was even hotter inside the house with monks praying with chants, family members filling up the room burning incense really turned things up. Unfortunately for me that’s when I began sweating a lot and feeling a bit embarrassed. If anyone has any suggestions to combat the heat please let me know.
[caption id="attachment_12088" align="alignnone" width="800"] The water pouring is the most important part of the Thai wedding ceremony as during this part the couple officially become husband (สามี [saa-mee]) and wife (ภรรยา [pan-ra-ya]).
We really enjoyed photographing this traditional Thai wedding and hope to do more. Most importantly we look forward to building our wedding photography here in Thailand. It’s great that we have a lot of inquiries and interest in our work.
